This post is more than a week overdue and for that I am sorry. Being back home has been enjoyable but also very busy and I have not had a chance to fully write up my story about the trip back. Not that there is a lot to write.
I had a three leg journey, Tokyo to Osaka, Osaka to Vancouver and Vancouver to home. The people at both the Tokyo and Osaka airports were incredibly helpful when I was lost and needed guidance navigating the large buildings and ticket windows. I arrived two hours early for my plane to Osaka at the Tokyo airport (Haneda), had myself a small lunch and did some reading. The lunch took up the last of my yen and I have just a few coins as money souvenirs that I brought back with me.
The plane ride to Osaka was very nice and I had a lovely view of the island of Japan from my window seat. I took a few pictures but there is very little to see in them. At one point I looked out over a group of small mountains with winding roads and villages scattered throughout. I have decided that I want to come back for a month and rent a car next time I visit. The country side looks beautiful from above.
My flight from Osaka to Vancouver was delayed a few times, so I was there for about two hours. This was fine because I needed to manage ticket changes at the Air Canada booth, more security, and I had immigration to talk to. Everyone was very helpful and kind, and I managed to get my checked baggage transferred all the way home without having to pick them up in Vancouver. The flight departed on time, and I had a great seat at the window but was not lucky enough to get an entire row to myself this time.
The Vancouver flight left around supper time locally and flew overnight, but with the time change I landed in Vancouver around 10 in the morning. It was a long flight, especially since I was packed in beside two people who I did not want to disturb, so I stayed in my seat the entire nine hours. The food was alright and I had a few things to keep me busy during the flight. The highlight was flying into the sunrise as we were getting close to Canada. I really enjoyed that part of the flight and spent about forty five minutes watching the colours change over the wing with my nose pressed to the window.
Heading home was a challenge as I had barely forty minutes between flights. But I was very happy when I got off the plane at home, mostly because of the one person waiting at the bottom of the stairs to greet me and take me to my apartment. It was such a surprise and I was so happy to see her. Really made the long trip worth it. Also we had a great meal together and I was able to give her the gifts I bought right away. She seemed to really like them.
The trip was amazing and thank you every one who read my stream of thoughts and provided such wonderful comments. It made my first blogging experience so joyful. I look forward to continuing it with other projects.
